How it works
Where the numbers come from
- Nutrition per 100 g: USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy data, public domain).
- Purines: USDA and ODS-NIH Database for the Purine Content of Foods, Release 2 (2025). Purine values differ between tested samples, so a range is shown where there is more than one.
- Indian and Gulf dishes are not in these tables. For a dish, the AI explains from its main ingredients and says when it is unsure.
How the quick guides are worked out
The food pages turn the numbers into a simple label. These rules are general and are not a personal assessment.
- Diabetes: limit if sugars are 10 g or more per 100 g (or carbohydrate is 60 g or more with little fibre); watch the portion if sugars are 5 g or more or carbohydrate is 15 g or more.
- Blood pressure: limit if sodium is 400 mg or more per 100 g; watch the portion at 120 mg or more.
- Cholesterol: limit if saturated fat is 5 g or more or cholesterol is 100 mg or more per 100 g.
- Gout: high purine at 150 mg or more per 100 g, moderate at 50 mg or more.
- Weight: energy dense at 300 kcal or more per 100 g.
AI answers
When you press Check, an AI model writes the explanation using your food and conditions. It is told never to give medicine advice and never to call a food safe or unsafe. For high uric acid it is also given purine numbers from the table above when the food matches. Your answers are not stored by us.
